Biological and chemical control of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum using Trichoderma spp. and Ulocladium atrum and pathogenicity to bean plants BABT
Figueirêdo,Girlene Soares de; Figueirêdo,Lívio Carvalho de; Cavalcanti,Francinete Carla Nunes; Santos,Angela Coimbra dos; Costa,Antonio Felix da; Oliveira,Neiva Tinti de.
Four isolates of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum were tested for pathogenicity in IPA-10 variety bean plants (Phaseolus vulgaris L.), and all were pathogenic. Biological control in vitro was evaluated using eight isolates of Trichoderma spp. and, one of Ulocladium atrum. Chemical control in vitro with fungicides Thiophanate methyl, Iprodione and Carbendazim was also tested. Except U. atrum, all Trichoderma isolates showed antagonistic potential against S. sclerotiorum, where isolate 3601 presented the best performance. Thiophanate methyl chemical control was the most efficient. This fungicide and isolate 3601were compared in vivo in greenhouse. There was statistical difference between the treatments, and the application of fungicide and antagonist before the...

Newly-discovered muscle in the larva of Patella coerulea (Mollusca, Gastropoda) suggests the presence of a larval extensor Naturalis
Damen, Peter; Dictus, Wim J.A.G..
The development of the muscular system of the gastropod mollusc Patella has been thoroughly studied. As a result, two larval retractors, the main and accessory larval retractor, had been described in the larva of Patella. These muscles were supposed to be responsible for the retraction of the larval body into the shell. Previously no larval extensors, which would be responsible for the extension of the larval body out of the shell, have been described. Using cell-lineage tracer injection and phalloidin staining of muscles, a newly-discovered muscle is herein identified in the larva of Patella coerulea. A functional model is presented in which two muscles are responsible for the extension of the larva, the newly-discovered muscle together with the...

Pharmacological characterization of rat paw edema induced by Cerastes gasperettii (cerastes) venom J. Venom. Anim. Toxins incl. Trop. Dis.
Al-Asmari,A. K.; Abdo,N. M..
Inflammatory response induced by the venom of the Arabian sand viper Cerastes gasperettii was studied by measuring rat hind-paw edema. Cerastes gasperettii venom (CgV, 3.75-240 µg/paw), heated for 30s at 97°C, caused a marked dose and time-dependent edema in rat paw. Response was maximal 2h after venom administration and ceased within 24h. Heated CgV was routinely used in our experiments at the dose of 120 µg/paw. Among all the drugs and antivenoms tested, cyproheptadine and 5-nitroindazole were the most effective in inhibiting edema formation. Aprotinin, mepyramine, dexamethasone, diclofenac, dipyridamole, Nomega-nitro-L-arginine, quinacrine, and nordihydroguaiaretic acid showed statistically (p<0.001) significant inhibitory effect, but with variations...

กระบวนการปฏิบัติเพื่อพัฒนาการจัดการโรคข้าวโพดโดยชีววิธี Thai Agricultural

Antagonist was applied as either seed or foliar treatments and the efficacy of disease suppression was determined by disease incidence and systemic resistance induction. Under greenhouse, the threshold concentration of each antagonist required for significant (P=0.05) suppression of BLS was 1*10**(6) and 1*10**(8) cfu/ml for seed and foliar spray applications respectively. Combined seed and foliar treatments with antagonist provided higher induction of plant resistance than application either seed or foliar alone, as account by correlated accumulation of defense-related enzyme activity, beta-1,3-glucanase. Field experiment that revealed 54.7 percent severe epidemic of BLS resulted in 62.2 percent disease control respectively according to the experimental...

การผลิตโพลีโคลนอลแอนติซีรัมที่จำเพาะต่อ Streptomyces-PR15 และการใช้ตรวจติดตามเชื้อรอบผิวรากต้นกล้าพริก Thai Agricultural
Weerakorn Saengsai; Petcharat Thummabenjapone.
The antagonistic Streptomyces-PR15 is a broad spectrum against various plant pathogenic fungi and bacteria of economic crops. To develop the ELISA technique for detection the Streptomyces-PR15 in bioproducts and plant surrounding environment, the production of polyclonal antiserum against Streptomyces-PR15 was carried out. The antigen prepared from Streptomyces-PR15 whole cell proteins was mixed with Freund’s incomplete adjuvant (1:1, v/v) was injected to in New Zealand White rabbit with immunization program as follows, intramuscular injection for 3 times then only antigen was intravenous injected for 2 times. Bleeding was done at 10 days after final immunization and then at weekly interval for 8 weeks. The antigen was re-intravenous injected at 14 days...
